About me
Hi guys, I'm Bella! I'm studying a Bachelor of Health Science in Nutritional Medicine and am currently in my second year of the degree. I love learning about health, cooking wholesome recipes and listening to podcasts on topics like happiness, gratitude and how to cope when life gives you lemons ;) I'm hoping this space is a place people can come to for positive inspiration, and will use it to share what i'm learning about, healthy recipes and topics on wellness.
Growing up, I was raised in a relatively healthy household (I say relative because there are so many things we individually associate with that word). My mum always cooked for us and I have so many memories of sitting and watching her do this. She's vegetarian, so we were raised with a lot of vegetarian meals, my favourite meal being her homemade spinach pie. She tried to teach us the importance of real food, always cooking from scratch rather than from a packet.
My love for health started at around 14 when I wanted to be vegetarian. I became more aware of what I was eating and got interested in what was on my plate. I also started running as a hobby, which really opened my mind to how exercise can make you feel good. At this time I was generally trying to figure out who I was and what my passion would be in life. A key point I remember was buying Miranda Kerr's book, "Treasure Yourself," and feeling inspired by her story on wellness and self love. She definitely kickstarted my interest in food as medicine, what terms like "organic" really meant, and the important of gratefulness and positive affirmations.
I take inspiration from so many different people now, and for different reasons. In my degree we're taught that health is holistic, meaning it's not just about what we eat or the absence of disease, but all about mind, body and soul. And through my own research into the blue zones, I also understand the importance of balance and community in shaping our health. I really want this blog to be a space where I can share all of the inspiring people and topics surrounding health and happiness. I'm new to blogging so I hope I get the hang of it...
